As a youth ages out of foster care, Special Services provide a transition so that they are best equipped on their journey to autonomy
Special Services Programming
Supervised Independent Living
Eligibility: Youth 17 and older under a court order (child welfare or youth justice).
This support includes wraparound supportive services including:
- Stabilization of their living situation
- Education support
- Health & wellness priorities
- Safety & wellbeing
- Durable life skill development
Youth in the program are also equipped with necessary tools and resources to have a successful transition into independence and adulthood.
Regional Aftercare
Eligible Consumers: Youth who have aged out of Foster Care/Kinship/Guardianship that meet eligibility standards by Wisconsin Department of Children and Families.
The Aftercare Program provides supportive, wraparound services that help prepare young persons for independence and autonomy. These services include:
- Education & Vocation support (Brighter Star)
- Health & wellness priorities
- Safety & wellbeing
- Durable life skill development
KHDS is TRA Region 4 supporting Racine, Kenosha, and Walworth Counties.
Adult Skills Program
Eligible Consumers: Youth 14.5 and older in and out of home or kinship care.
The Adult Skills Program reinforces important skills and resources needed to live healthy, safe, and productive independent living.
These skills include:
- Health & Wellness Goal setting
- Budget & Spending
- Interview & Job Application Processes
- Safety & wellbeing
- Durable life skill development
- Understanding rent & a lease
- Getting to Work
- Interpersonal Skills
- Stress & Anxiety Management
